Software, Systems, Society
A Little Plains project.
Over the past year, the way creative work gets built has fundamentally shifted.
For most of the modern digital era, teams operated in the Software Era; learning individual tools for writing, design, motion, and code. That model rewarded speed and specialization, but it also created fragmented workflows – more output, less coherence.
What’s replacing it isn’t better software. It’s Systems.
Connected, end-to-end creative pipelines that carry context, structure decisions, and generate work that adapts instead of resets. This shift is already underway at Little Plains, and even more autonomously at Infinite Garden. As generative models begin to support entire creative loops, architecture matters more than execution, and judgment matters more than sheer volume.
From there, the next phase becomes visible: Societies.
Not as metaphor, but as structure. Groups of coordinated agents that research, generate, QA, and produce together. Within the world of software-enabled services, human teams will move from making everything by hand to orchestrating ecosystems of intelligence. Creative work shifts from manual production to direction, principles, and perspective. In this model, creation looks less like assembly and more like conducting...
