Design Technologist
We are hiring a design technologist to pair a traditional creative and design skill set with frontier agentic tools, and use them to build websites, products, and digital experiences.
Why This Role Exists
With agentic tools, a designer can get from an idea to a working experience fast. We want someone who uses that speed to explore bolder directions and push well past an agent's first draft.
You'll turn early ideas into working experiences and make the calls on typography, motion, and interaction. Then you'll carry the strongest work through to launch with its motion and interaction intact.
About Little Plains
Little Plains is a modern brand and product studio. We work primarily with early-stage companies, often from pre-launch through Series A, at moments where clarity, speed, and conviction matter most. Our partners are founders and small senior teams building new products, categories, and narratives under real constraints.
We operate as an embedded creative partner rather than a traditional digital agency, building brand, product, and go-to-market work into cohesive systems that can scale as companies grow. Our work spans healthcare, biotech, SaaS, and consumer products.
What You Will Do
Day to day, you will:
- Generate concepts with the team and test them fast as working prototypes in the browser
- Build production-ready front ends for marketing sites, product interfaces, and interactive brand experiences
- Work with engineers to carry more complex prototypes through implementation, with the intended motion and interaction intact
- Build primarily in Next.js, React, and modern CSS, using Claude Code and other agentic tools, and adapt to a client's existing stack when a project calls for it
- Create scroll-driven stories, motion, data visualization, and generative visuals
- Turn Figma files, brand kits, sketches, and screen recordings into responsive, working pages
- Build with our Agentic Brand Systems and add the components and interaction patterns each project produces
- Test your own work across browsers and devices before it ships
- Try new tools and techniques as they appear, and turn what works into workflows the team can reuse
How We Work
You will work alongside brand designers, strategists, and copywriters across the entire lifespan of projects. Everyone on the team uses AI tools daily, and we trade workflows, prompts, and builds at our bi-weekly creative share.
The Bar for Craft
We look for work with a point of view: typography, motion, and interaction choices that are deliberate and fit the client's brand. You read and edit everything an agent produces. You judge that output on visual fidelity, responsive behavior, accessibility, performance, and whether the motion and interaction hold up once the work ships.
What We're Looking For
- 2–5 years of experience in a creative or design discipline such as interactive design, motion, art direction, or creative coding, or equivalent
- A portfolio of prototypes, interactive experiences, and shipped work that shows both creative direction and technical execution
- Daily use of frontier agentic tools for code, image, and video, and a habit of trying new ones as they launch
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with experience in React and Next.js
- Comfort moving between Figma and code
- Experience building brand or design systems
- The independence to take a loose brief to a working prototype and keep it moving without close direction
- Clear communication: you can walk designers, strategists, and clients through what you built and why
- Proven experience in traditional design skills and workflows
- A plus: Three.js or WebGL, Svelte, MCP-based workflows, Storybook, GitHub, or a headless CMS such as Sanity
What to Submit
- Resume or LinkedIn profile
- Portfolio or links to work that shows both creative direction and technical execution
- A short note on how you use agentic tools in your process
Thank You.
We appreciate your consideration and will review every submission carefully. Please allow a few business days for us to get back to you.
Cheers,
Little Plains
